Crawford Falls

Cool, grey Thanksgiving Sunday solo mission in S.E. Kelowna turns out pretty dang solid (pt.1)

So what do you do when the rest of your crew is either under the weather or not up for an excursion? Solo mission! In the interest of not rotting away in my basement staring at a screen, I decided it was time to get out on a cool, grey October Sunday afternoon and get a hike in since Autumn is the best time for hitting the trails. Why I had never done the Canyon Falls/Crawford Falls run before is beyond me. It’s close proximity to town and short duration made it a no brainer to cross off my list today. Albeit a little uneven and somewhat steep in parts, it was an otherwise easy jaunt from the cul-de-sac parking spot on Canyon Falls Ct, down the path and along Bellevue creek to first, Canyon Falls, and then a small climb over and on to Crawford Falls.

I do love to do some light bouldering and my left hand got a good scraping whilst trying to scramble up the bank for a nice shot of Crawford Falls which was notably less accessible for small kids, older folks or those with decreased mobility. I took my time snapping shots and chatting with other LOCALS and poking about and my round trip clocked in at 40min for a short 2km foray. No rush to get back so I did what any self respecting Okanagan blogger did on the way back home. Hit up some wineries, cideries, and a honey farm to boot. Details in Part 2….
